Maskahwin and Wedding Expenses

What is a Mas Kahwin (Mahr)?
Mahr is a gift given by the groom to the bride after the solemnisation ceremony. It symbolises the beginning of a husband's responsibility towards his wife in fulfilling her everyday needs.

Mahr can be in cash or benefits, such as gold, silver, money, land, a car, or an apartment. Mahr is the bride's right and she owns the Mahr. Thus, she has the will to dispose of it as she wishes.

The current minimum rate for the Mahr in Singapore is $100 cash.

What is a Hantaran (Marriage Expenses)?
A hantaran, (marriage expenses) is a customary gift, usually in cash, given by the Groom to his bride's family for the Walimah. The Hantaran rate must be agreed upon by both parties.

What is a Walimah?
A Walimah is a feast given after the marriage by the couple, which is a sunnah. Walimah is a celebration of the newly formed family and for announcing that this couple is now husband and wife.

During the celebration, relatives and friends of both the husband and the wife, as well as community members are invited to get acquainted with each other and begin a nice relationship through the marriage.

SMILES

Alhamdulillah....
on the way back from class just now, received an SMS from Splendour Moments Wedding Decor of their availability on our wedding date and the price range is reaaalllyy affordable.
Seriously, I can't remember when i contacted them...
so...the moment i got home..i logged on to look at their website and portfolio..
Well, its not that impressive but for that price range, i can't expect much and it is actually really good. (its difficult to get that price range of 1.6K - 2.2K for that kind of detailed work and good theme coordination they provide)
though they don't have much flexibility in orignality (so ends up..couples engaging their service will have same decor...as what is seen in their portfolio..BUT...i'm sure with my ideas and DIY resources...i'm sure we could work something out)

COS......my priority is SIMPLE but ORIGINAL...it needs to reflect me...
I need to add in my own personal touch...
doesn't matter if I'll tire myself out but this is what I want...:)

so I guess...I'll be engaging them... AND doing more research for my DIY pelamin plan?...:)

Singapore and Kiasu-ism

Abi has decided the date...I've shared with him my concerns and we've more or less chosen THE DATE.
Countdown: less than 12months
So have been browsing the internet and enquiring potential Bridal Services in Singapore...
Surprise! Surprise!
about 80% of those i asked (i asked about 10) they are fully booked or left with 1 slot!
WHAT??!! So fast??!! Singaporeans are Kiasu!!
probably because its the holiday period...
and because they offer really gorgeous designs with affordable price
i'm like rushed to quickly decide and confirm and book...

so here's my pick out of those who responded of their availability..

Estheme 's Porfolio (about $3K)

I really like it that they do not have a standard design for the pelamin...but...they instead most of the ideas come form the bride and groom themselves... (http://estheme.multiply.com/profile)

SID Events and Wedding Service (about $4k)

I'm really impressed that they provide FULL decor for the venue, their high pelamin ceiling and the chiavary chairs....the chairs really transform the whole look...BUT...its a little bit over my budget...unless anyone is willing to give me 1K to top it up...haha...

waiting for replies from a few more vendors before i make my booking and pay my deposit...please reply fast!! before the slots are taken!!

Shopper Totes

I'm a backpack-big bags-kinda-girl and this is the first time in 25years of my life that i went out to window-shop for handbags.
Doubted that i would find anything suitable but i just dragged myself anyway...along with best friend, Sri (Thank you darling).
Headed to Orchard after work (best bet cos u can find EVERYTHING in Orchard and anyway, we wanted to look for some other things..like toys for Akil's presents and CDs/cameras for Oppa's present.if not,i don't think i would even be there at all.haha.).
When we reached Orchard, we were still kinda clueless about where to go..what to look for and we just wandered aimlessly, in and out of malls just scanning through the gazillion bags which comes in so many different brands, sizes, shapes, colours but none of those captured my attention to even go near and touch it.
I noticed some other shoppers carrying bags from popular brands but....i was telling myself.."Why pay so much for those branded stuff which everyone else is carrying and there's nothing special about the design anyway. They all look the same."
And then.........we saw these bags by Marc and Jacobs(was actually drawn to the shop because of their beautifully designed jackets and coat.:P). Nice, sleek leather bags in simple no nonsense colours and designs....i like quite a few designs but the price tag was about $700 and above (still within budget but...i wouldn't want to spend that much on the bags).
Browsed around some more...until finally....we saw this DKNY tote.

It's big..enough for me to fit in my "thrash" haha, it's simple and the design and size fits me. Sri said she can even picture me carrying it even in jeans and tshirt. The best thing is...price tag: about $500.yeay!I tried it on..looked at myself in the mirror and i love it!

Even when we proceeded to other mall..the bag still caught my eye and it was like screaming "BUY ME!NOW!"
Of cos i didn't but the bags there and then but now...i know what kind of bag i want for myself! :D

DKNY Shopper Totes!!!!! :D

Colour wheel

focus....focus...focus....
step 1: where is my colour wheel?
Step 2: intial chosen colour = green + pink
Step 3: decide main colour = green (although i love pink..pink is out cos Abi doesnt like it)
Step 4: eliminate distraction
Step 5: additional shades of pink and green (white will obviously be there...and orange to accentuate and blend)

 Step 6: sample

Now...the final question is....this range of colour will suit most skintone right?
Kak Ayin...hope this helps....let's work around these colours?how about that?
